"AMERICA OR BURST"

Contemporary, American poetry is very much like the 80s smash-hit, sitcom Perfect Strangers. By this, I mean that, currently, the poetic landscape of the United States resembles a suburban man by the name of Larry Appleton moving into a Chicago apartment with a zany immigrant by the name of Balki Bartokomous who is from the fictional Mediterranean island-nation of Mypos.   1. Though I've never seen this show (but from what I can tell, it looks very promising), I, too, would like more translated poetry to be brought to me while I think about 1980s television.
